Wire (power) sagging from house...limb was removed but wire hanging low

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Had a major limb on power line...limb has been removed but service wire to house has dropped considerably. My internet cable also has dropped but cannot have raised until the power line is raised due to requirement of separation distance requirements for cable vs power line.

If there’s any weather, you will lose power. If there’s no weather, you may lose a leg of power, have a surge or flicker. No restoration estimates

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They have no way of telling if they lose a leg of power or if the phases are putting out less or more than they should. This damages industrial equipment which the people eventually pay for. And power should not go out everytime there is wind, rain or snow. Yes, mega storms happen and you lose power but some moderate weather and CMP cannot keep the lights on. 3 years running as the worst power company in the nation and theres little doubt it will be the worst for a fourth year. But hey, Spain and Quater and the conglomerates that own it are making record profits so who cares!

Terrible service across the board.

Was having service for a business disconnected, there was some confusion due to many boxes getting service. Wanted simple clarification verbally from foreman. He was a complete *** and I cannot cesor myself because there is no other word to capture this guy. Refused to make eye contact, rolled eyes when I said good morning and was totally dismissive of me. I hope these *** lose the next vote because their Holyer than thou attitude is most unwelcome.

Absolute worst company in history

Central Maine Power - Absolute worst company in history

CMP regularly just steals their customers' money by lying on their bills. They've been sued for this multiple times, and they keep doing it.

When they're not doing that, they're just hiking the rates for fun. Doing anything like solar through them is so much paperwork that it's like a part-time job. When their service fails, as it regularly does, there is zero compensation and the poor people answering their phones just say "they won't give you anything."

If there was a a way to give negative stars, I would do so.

I've never experienced a worse company in my life. If you have literally any other options for power companies, take them.

I would if I had a choice but they are a MONOPOLY.

Original review Mar 26, 2024
Continually raising rates without adding any value. The lines are not properly maintained and there is no effort to move towards having a more reliable grid in the long term.

Power is lost any time there is weather. Theyre now owned by a foreign company who is only focused on squeezing out short term profits for their foreign shareholders. Maine residents have no other choice in areas served by CMP.

This monopoly on such an important part of our infrastructure is a serious national security risk. CMP has no interest in improving our grid and keeping electricity flowing reliably and economically to OUR citizens - because they dont live here!

Lost power

We lost power at 1AM and did not get it back until 10 AM that day, no storms or heavy winds and no accidents. They came out once to fix it but left and it was still out. Came back hours later and after a while they got it on.

Power went out unnecessarily

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

It's a sun-shiny day, and though the power went out twice, there was no reason for it. We had a rain and wind event the evening before and fully expected the power to go out, and it didn't, there is no reason to expect it now when there is no wind, blue sky and sun!

About 30 years ago, this was a company that could be relied upon to do their jobs and do them well.

However, I don't know what happened, but they have taken a nose dive; they can't keep the lights on under the best of conditions.

The meteorologists at the various television stations are always giving them a pass, or assuming everyone who has been through this time and time again is a mental defective and feel the need to advise people of the possibility of power outages.

Really? This is the 21st Century; step into it and act accordingly.

Unresolved issues

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
So 9 years ago they were phasing out physically checking residential meters and were able to read from the roadside. One day I was home alone at 18 years old and noticed a small CMP orange pickup truck pull into my driveway. He never came to the door, so I went outdoors to ask what he needed since I had heard they didn't leave the trucks anymore. My meter was parallel to my laundry line. I had panties hanging from the laundry's line along with other articles. I rounded the side of the house to find him unclipping a bundle of my panties. I yelled at him to leave immediately then called the police. Apparently CMP had no way of knowing who had stopped at my home that day. Had no record of anyone having one of their trucks in the area that day(bullshit). The state police came up empty-handed. This was in Prospect Maine in 2012.

Too many outages

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
For years Central Maine power has had Asplundh tree company trim the trees on our camp road. Now apparently you gave the contract to Lucas tree. the trees aren’t being trimmed and we have an unacceptable amount of power outages. If you need our support for your ongoing construction efforts you need to help us keep the power on
